Expanding the Experience

Build a richer experience and deepen your engagement with your Nat Geo Live audiences with the options listed below. Email NGP.natgeolivemarketing@natgeo.com for additional details about these opportunities.

  STUDENT MATINEES

Student Matinees

Nat Geo Live student matinees allow students (primarily grades 5-8) to hear from National Geographic explorers, photographers, filmmakers, and scientists.

Student matinee presentations are approximately one hour long and include a short question-and-answer session with the speaker after their talk.

Many Nat Geo Live speakers have developed a student matinee version of their standard talks and are available to book a student matinee the morning of, or after, their public program.

Each Student Matinee speaker has a collection of educational resources to complement his or her presentation—including classroom activities, reference content, videos, maps, and more.

  AUDIENCE Q&A

q&a

The 15-minute post-show Q&A can be one of the most exciting portions of a Nat Geo Live event, when audience members can ask questions directly to the speaker.

There are different ways of handling the logistics of this portion of the program:

  • Collecting cards with guests' written questions

  • Setting up stationary mic stands in strategic locations so that guests can line up to ask their question

  • Having ushers act as mic runners so guests can ask questions from their seats

  • Using a digital audience interaction platform, like Slido or Glisser, that allow guests to submit questions digitally from their phones and even vote on questions they would most like answered.

Contact us at NGP.natgeolivemarketing@natgeo.com if you are considering a digital Q&A solution and would like us to put you in touch with a current Nat Geo Live partner who uses Slido for their post-show Q&A.

Book Signings

  BOOK SIGNINGS

NOTE: For the health and safety of our speakers during the Covid-19 pandemic, we aim to minimize direct interactions with the audience. As such, speakers will not participate post-show meet-and-greets or book-signings through January 1, 2022. Speakers may pre-sign National Geographic-published books to be made available for sale.

If your speaker has a book (or if their work is included in a compilation, like National Geographic The 21st Century: Photographs From the Image Collection - publishing on November 2, 2021), consider making books available for sale. National Geographic Books offers the most competitive discount on National Geographic titles and will accept returns of unsold quantities.

  • Consider including the book as an add-on option during the ticket transaction path so patrons can purchase in advance along with their ticket

  • Have the book available for purchase before and after the program

  • Mention the book signing during the introduction (on pause through January 1, 2022)

  • After the program, have the speaker sign books at a table in the lobby (on pause through January 1, 2022)

Not sure if your speaker has a book? Check their Speaker Asset page.

You can also consider having a supply of general National Geographic books on hand, such as WOMEN: The National Geographic Image Collection or National Geographic: The Covers.

To order books, please contact Aled Greville, Vice President, Product Inventory & Operations at aled.greville@natgeo.com.
